What are Tarot Cards?
Tarot readings involve the use of tarot cards that are more than just pretty pictures. They are made up of 78 cards in total called the “Arcana”. 22 of these are known as the Major Arcana and 56 cards known as the Minor Arcana.
The Minor Arcana are split into 4 suits, these are Cups, Pentacles, Wands and Swords, each suit runs from Ace to 10 and then has 4 court cards, Page, Knight, King and Queen.
How do the Tarot Cards work?
Each tarot card has a picture on it that the reader will interpret along with their personal abilities in order to assist you.
How Can Tarot Reading Help Me?
You may wonder how tarot cards can help you in life, the answer is simple. They are a well-known divination tool that can assist you when you want to know what’s going on around you. Very often in life you may be faced with choices and decisions and are unsure where to turn or what direction to take. The Tarot Cards can help you make those decisions and usually let you know what will happen once you do so.
Many people also have tarot readings to find out more about themselves and how they can help others and better their lifestyle; this is often a very peaceful and healing form of reading and one that can really help you to understand yourself better.
What Should I Ask?
It is best to ask the universe and your reader that whatever is best for your highest good should come through in your tarot reading.
What do I need to do to prepare before my reading?
Nothing really except sit in a comfortable place making sure you are alone for your consultation, even if it’s a phone or Skype consultation. That is because then there is only you and the person reading for you who are “connected” from an energy point of view. It is a good idea to be as relaxed as possible.
Where do Tarot Cards come from?
You may have heard that Tarot Cards originated from ancient Egypt or 19th Century Gypsies but both of these tales are not true. The earliest known (almost) full deck of Tarot Cards were discovered to be from 1450’s. This was a wedding gift for the Visconti royal family in Milan, decks based on this original can still be bought today.
The cards grew in popularity mainly for entertainment, being seen as a game initially, rather than a tool of divination as they are usually used now. From the late 18th century until the present time the tarot has also been used by mystics and occultists in efforts at divination or as a map of mental and spiritual pathways.
Did you know Carl Jung was the first psychoanalyst to attach importance to the symbolism of tarot? Tarot cards are believed to be derived from the Book of Thoth.
As time went on and its popularity grew people also came to use the more elaborately designed decks for divination. As more time passed people would ask for specific designs to be commissioned and to this day there are literally thousands of different decks being used.
Readers often choose the ones that speak to them the most.
Other types of readings
Of course Tarot Cards are just one way of having a reading done; there are many different methods that can be used to assist you.
Angel and Oracle Cards
There are different types of cards such as Angel and Oracle cards, the reader again will use their interpretive skills to gain insight and answers for you.
A Medium or Clairvoyant is someone who can give you information on those who have passed over. If they choose to come through, a medium can pass on messages to you.
Numerology is the ancient study of the symbolism of numbers; the reader will associate numbers linked to you such as your date of birth, and other numbers that may be important. These numbers can give insight into such things as personality or compatibility etc.
How do I perform my readings?
Even though I do use the tarot, it’s not the only divinity I use while doing my readings. The cards speak to me, either through their pictures or symbolism. Sometimes linked cards may join to create a new situation that I may see for you or around you. I work with my Spirit Guides who may step in to either give cryptic messages or shed a different light, or show me signs. I also use a mix of mediumship, channelling, numerology, spiritual counselling when reading for my clients. I pick up on certain vibrations, energy and or aura’s when speaking with a client whether face to face or on the phone. I am clairsentient (feeling, gut feeling) and claircognizant (knowing) and an Empath.
I may pull an Angel or Oracle card at the end of your reading just to see what else is coming up for you but this may not be necessary if enough information comes through your reading anyway.
Each reading is unique. I never know what’s going to pan out, who or what’s going to come through till I am in session with a client. Book a reading with me today and let’s see what comes up from Spirit for you 🙂
